Billy Jack Spurlock, Sr. a resident of rural Henryetta, died July 21, 2020 in Henryetta at the age of 93. He was born Oct. 29, 1926 on Tiger Mountain to Tilden J. Spurlock, Sr. and Bessie Beatrice (Dodge) Spurlock.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps as a paratrooper in WWII. He married Patsy Friend, May 11, 1946 in Okmulgee. He worked for many years at Eagle-Picher Smelter until it's closing. After retiring he went to work at Dewar School as a maintenance supervisor.
He was a charter member of the Apostolic House of Prayer where he served on the church board for many years. Later he became a member of the Dewar United Pentecostal Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife Patsy Spurlock, his parents, Tilden and Bessie Spurlock, step mother, Fairy Spurlock, a sister, Betty Hamilton, and a brother, James B. (Jimmy) Spurlock, and a great-granddaughter, Bella Davidson.
Survivors include four children: Billy J. Spurlock, Jr. and wife Judy of Henryetta, Danne J. Spurlock and wife Linda of Henryetta, Barbara A. Whitaker and husband Johnny of Morris and Jimmy D. Spurlock and wife Janice of Henryetta; seven grandchildren: Brad Spurlock and wife Je'anda of Morris, Brian Spurlock of Dewar;
Chad Spurlock and wife Andrea of Henryetta, Amy Whitaker of Morris, Amber Davidson and husband Mark of Oklahoma City, Rebecca Morris and husband Kyle of Henryetta;
Tina Brittenham and husband Josh of Henryetta; great-grandchildren: Addison Spurlock, Wesley Spurlock, Lincoln Friestedt, Braxton Spurlock, Bryton Morris, Lucy Davidson, Brynlee Morris, Molly Davidson, Jameson Brittenham, Kelsey Spurlock, Kaley Crawford and Dustin Crawford; two sisters, Beulah Rutland of Dewar and Bonnie Pulliam of Santa Rosa, California; brother, Junior Spurlock of Dewar; also by a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Pallbearers will grandsons and great grandsons, Brad Spurlock, Brian Spurlock, Chad Spurlock, Dustin Crawford, Josh Brittenham, Kyle Morris, Mark Davidson, Lincoln Freistedt, Bryton Morris and Wesley Spurlock.
Viewing will be from noon until 8 p.m., Friday, July 24 at Integrity Funeral Service.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Matthew Martin and Sis. Judy Wainwright officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
