The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of a traffic accident that claimed the life of a Henryetta man Wednesday evening.
According to OHP Trooper Keith Burch, Edward Martel, 56, died when the bicycle he was riding was involved in the accident on old Highway 62 three miles east of Okemah shortly before 8 p.m.
The car involved in the collision was a 2018 Chevrolet driven by 23-year-old Sydney Williamson from Okemah. Two children in the car with Williamson were not injured.
Trooper Burch said Martell was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The children were in child restraints and the driver was wearing her seat belt.
