The aroma of smoking meat permeated across Nichols Park Saturday as the first Rustlers Barbecue contest was held.
Seven teams turned out to showcase their best ribs, pork butt and pulled pork.
At the end, the Smoke Show team came away with the People’s Choice award. B Team BBQ was the grand champion taking first in brisket, second in pork butt and second in St. Louis Ribs.
Smoke Show was second in brisket, third in pork butt judging and first with the St. Louis style ribs.
O Town Que nailed third in brisket, and first in the pork butt judging. Third place in St. Louis style ribs went to 4E barbecue.
Organizer and Rustler’s owner Steve Sanford said he was pleased with the turnout and is already making plans for the contest next year.
