Funeral services are pending for Amos Rabbit who died Dec. 16, 2020, in Okemah at the age of 80. He was born March 27, 1940, in Morris to Edmond Rabbit and Bertha Lee (Chalakee) Rabbit. Amos attended Dewar Public School. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea and later transferred to Fort Hood, Texas. Amos married Pauline Jones and moved his family to California through the Relocation Program offered through the Bureau Indian Affairs (BIA), and attended welding school. Amos worked many years through the Millwright Union until he retired. Amos also served as Vice-President for Sunrise Volunteer Fire Station from 1999 to 2018.
Amos is preceded in death by his spouse Pauline (Jones) Rabbit, parents Edmond & Bertha Rabbit, two sisters Betty Ann Rabbit and Rosie Lee (Rabbit) Berryhill.
He is survived by his daughters Sheila Ramirez and spouse Luis Ramirez, Tammy Rabbit, Kimberly Silva, and spouse Martin Silva. Grandchildren Mahiya Ramirez, Michael Rabbit, Cheyenne Rodrigues, David Rodrigues, Martin Silva Jr., Dakota Silva, and Great-granddaughter Analisa Rodrigues. Four sisters Edna Messer, Irene Washington, Lorene Rabbit, and Geneva Rabbit. Two brothers Edmond Rabbit and Gerald Rabbit and spouse Jeanette. One aunt Alice Burnside. Amos was also like a father to Larry Tom and Mona Tom Henderson. Amos is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
