Lorieta Jo Sweeney, a resident of Henryetta, died Jan. 13, 2021 in Tulsa at the age of 85. She was born Aug. 1, 1935 in Henryetta to James and Lorieta Fern (Higgins) Pippin. She is a graduate of Henryetta High School Class of 1954 and member of the Henryetta First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 15 years. She married Donald Sweeney Aug. 20, 1954. Lorieta served as a pastor's wife, worked as a medical secretary for Dr Ted Lewis for 27 years, and worked at Taylor Drug Store.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, great granddaughter Bethany Jo Montgomery, son-in-law-Galen Hoyt, and special cousins Troy and Kay Ross.
She is survived by her children: Suzan Jo Hatcher and husband Wayne of Sand Springs, Elizabeth Ann Hoyt of Henryetta and Kathryn Jean Sweeney of Henryetta; two granddaughters: Sarah Montgomery and husband Troy, and Mary Cummings and husband Christopher; four grandsons: David and wife Amy Hoyt; Isaac and wife Jessie Hatcher; Andrew and wife Ellisa Hoyt; and Samuel Hoyt; great grandchildren: Adam, Charis, Daniel,and Esther Montgomery; Suzan, Phoebe,and Timothy Cumings; Lily and Gideon Hatcher; Annabelle, Aden, Harper,and Hallie Hoyt sister-in-law: Margaret Harrison of Henryetta
The family will be greeting friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021 at the Henryetta First Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Paslay and Rev. Rodney Harris, officiating. Interment will follow at the Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.
