Minnie Geraldine Mordecai, a longtime resident of Dewar, died Jan. 19, 2021 in Henryetta at the age of 93. She was born Sept. 18, 1927 in Dewar to Teddy Elmer Wade and Ida Bell (Rutledge) Wade.
She married the love of her life, Albert Mylan Mordecai Jan. 21, 1946 in Van Buren, Ark. She was a faithful member of the Dewar First Baptist Church, was a member of the Eastern Star and Dewar Rebekah Lodge. Geraldine operated her beauty shop there by her residence for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Ida Wade, her husband Albert Mylan Mordecai, a son, Terry Ray Mordecai, a brother, Elmer Wade, two sisters, Betty Jane Wade and Delores Dillard.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Sawyer and husband Bernel of Dewar; son, Ronnie Mordecai and wife Debra of Edmond; 11 grandchildren: Terry Mordecai, Jr. and wife Donna of Miami, Jeff Hughes and wife Michele of Port St. Luci, Florida, Heather Mordecai of Tulsa, Kent Hughes of Dewar, Edward Thomas Mordecai and wife Casta of Okmulgee, Troy James Mordecai of Henryetta, Tiagail Christian and husband Thomas of Bixby, Elizabeth Wallis of Bixby, John Andrew and wife Lindsey of Ponca City, Amy Gill and husband Loyed of Owasso and William Sawyer and wife Danica of Sterling, Colorado; 24 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; sister, Frances Thompson of Henryetta; as well as a host of friends and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation to the Dewar Education Foundation.
Viewing for Geraldine will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. until noon Saturday at Integrity Funeral Service.
Funeral services will be private with family only. Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
