Henryetta school board members updated their COVID-19 quarantine and isolation policy Tuesday morning.
The policy calls for any student or staff member testing positive to get a ten day isolation period from the test date. That individual may return to school on day 11 if they are fever-free for 72 hours. That return could be as quickly as day 8 through 10 if they are not taking fever reducing medication.
If a student or staff member is exposed to a person who has tested positive, they are going to be quarantined for 14 days. That allows the individual to return on the eighth day if they have no symptoms and a negative test on the seventh day of quarantine. If the test is positive, a ten-day isolation is imposed.
“We met with the principals in an effort to keep pace with the changes,” superintendent Dwayne Noble told board members. “We hope this will carry us through the rest of the year. We will take next year as it comes.”
High school principal Kelly Furer and grade school principal Jayme Matlock were involved in writing the new policy and said it is in a form that can be sent home.
Furer said one teacher at the high school is out of the hospital after being treated for the virus. “He is feeling better now,” she added.
