The spring golf season opened well for the Lady Knights Monday.
Playing at Rock Creek country club in Sapulpa, Henryetta finished fourth out of a field of 12 teams. Three of the five HHS girls, Skylar Smallwood, Emily Stockholm and Mabrey Been, all shot under 100. The other girls, Lottie Johnson and Skylar Morris, each ran into problems on the last hole and put their scores ending up with 102 scores for the tournament.
“This was a great opening day for the girls,” said coach Dutch Vandenborn. “I think we will be getting strong as the year goes on.”
He pointed out the best score for the team came from junior golfer Skylar Smallwood with a 91. “That is great considering the last time she played on the team was in the seventh grade,” the coach said. Senior team member Emily Stockholm posted a 97 and sophomore Mabrey Been had a 98.
Wagoner posted the top team score with a 356 followed by Bishop Kelley with 364 then Perkins-Tryon with a 367. Henryetta’s girls turned in a team total of 376.
The HHS girls will be going to Wewoka March 9.
