2021 Solo Ensemble HS and MS

The problem with COVID and extreme winter weather failed to deter members of the Henryetta High School and middle school vocal music classes from showing off their talents.
At the recent OSSAA district competition the two groups scored excellent and superior honors and will have representatives at the state competition.
In the high school contest, soloists Sheldon Andrews, Jasmine Cantrell, Leia Howton, Elizabeth Scrudder and Emily Stockholm all scored excellent ratings The men’s quartet of Sheldon Andrews, Caveryn Foster, Nathaniel Johnson and Tyler Sisson took excellent in the ensemble competition.
Foster qualified for state with a superior rating as a soloist. He is also in the Oklahoma Choral Directors Association All State Chorus.
Sisson garnered a superior rating and qualified for state as a soloist. He was named to the Oklahoma Music Educator’s Association All State Chorus as well.
The ladies quartet of Cantrell, Howton, Scurdder and Sadie Stout will be going to the state contest ensemble competition after receiving a superior rating.
That state contest will be held in Enid April 22 and 23.
Middle school soloists Addy Chavez, Laura McConnell, Ruthy Turner and Camryn Watkins received excellent ratings. The girls duet of Gracee Rogers and Lena White were judged excellent in the middle school ensemble competition.
Braden Lollis received a middle school superior rating. He is also in the Oklahoma Choral Directors Association All State Chorus.
Vocal instructor Karen Willis said those high marks were achieved even though students had only two days of in-person rehearsals. The students were forced to depend upon technology to meet with Willis during the virtual and weather issues.
