Sondra Jean Hughes Miller died Jan. 12 after a brief fight with cancer. She was born May 29, 1940, in Henryetta  to Josephine Pearl Blackburn and Alvin Chester Hughes.
Sondra had many hobbies including gardening and showing dogs, as well as judging dog shows. Her favorite breed was the Belgian Tervuren.
Sondra is survived by her son, Chris Miller, and his three children, Maci, Nathan and Dilan Miller; daughter, Jenny Miller Newell and her husband Rick Newell, and their three children, Kyla, Tyler and Corey Newell. She is also survived by her younger sister and best friend Jeanie Black of Aurora, Colo.; her oldest sister, Alice Taylor of Henryetta, her youngest sister Sharon Hughes of Tulsa; and her brothers, Mike Hughes of Verdigris and Kurt Myers of San Bernardino, Calif., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Family members would like to thank Dr. Mudassir Nawaz, the wonderful nurses and aides in the Progressive Care Unit, the Intensive Care Unit and the Palliative Care area of Norman Regional Hospital, Dr. Meril Weber for her kind words and advice; and the nurses, aides and social workers of Crossroads Hospice.
