Henryetta high school choir members Caveryn Foster and Tyler Sisson were awarded superior ratings on their solo performances at the OSSAA state vocal solo and ensemble contest Friday.
Competing at Enid, the HHS ladies ensemble composed of Junior Elizabeth Scrudder, Freshman Jasmine Cantrell, Senior Leia Howton, and Senior Saydee Stout, earned an Excellent rating.
The competition is usually held at Shawnee said vocal instructor Karen Willis. "Our students were willing to go the extra miles to have this opportunity this year. Their contest year was cut short last year, due to Covid, so they were very thankful for the chance to sing a this level. We have a talented group of singers who represented our school and community very well.”
The choir is scheduled to perform for family and friends at the annual spring concert May 4 at the high school auditorium starting at 6 p.m. It will be streamed live on thehenryettan.com.
