Henryetta thin clads will be looking for state gold this Saturday. The state track meet at Catoosa has Knights participating in five events after their performances in the regional contest at Checotah.
Austin Green finished third in the 800 meter run posting a time of 2:02.60. That was good enough to have him seeded in eighth spot. Green just missed the cut in the 400 dash finishing in fifth.
Blake Wynn qualified in both the long jump and 200 meter dash. He posted a 20 foot, 3.25 inch jump for his best to take third place. That has him seeded third in the state meet. He ran the 200 dash in 23.29 seconds that was good enough for fourth place.
Both Wynn and Green are members of the Henryetta 4x800 and 4x400 relay teams. They, along with Riley Floyd and Trevor King, finished second in both events and will be in the state competition.
Henryetta Knights James Martin and Dylan Bain missed out on the cut in their events. Martin was fourth in the 300 hurdles and sixth in the 110 hurdles. Bain placed eighth in the 800 hurdles.
Overall, the HHS boys placed fifth in the point tally.
At the regional meet, Henryetta’s girls saw Kassidy Lee end the season in sixth with her shot throw of 28 feet, two inches. The best throw was from Sequoyah-Claremore’s Mikayla Taylor with 33 feet, four inches.
McKayla Greenhaw qualified for the 200 meter dash finals with a preliminary time of 28.37. She wound up in seventh place in the finals with a 28.88 time.
She also made it to the finals in the 100 meter dash with a preliminary time of 13.75 for eighth place. That was also her finals finishing spot.
The :lady Knights tied for 15th in the overall scoring.
