The past sports year at Henryetta high school has been a challenging one for coaches, players, fans and players.
Due to the pandemic a number of games were either cancelled or rescheduled, often on a few hours notice.
Those challenges and the ability for HHS athletes to deal with them were praised Monday night at a special awards assembly.
Coaches from each sport called their team members to the stage at the HHS auditorium and recognized those efforts.
A special recognition was given to Laura Goodner who spearheaded a fundraising drive that brought in over $35,000 to purchase equipment for the school track high jump and pole vaults.
“What you have done is huge,” said track coach Tim Gillespie.
In a prepared statement, athletic director Justin Been said the banquet format will return next year.
