Two Okemah residents died in a single-vehicle crash shortly before 9 Wednesday evening.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Richard Johnson, 70 and his wife, Connie, 64, were the only occupants of a 2014 Nissan that was eastbound on Interstate 40.
Trooper Denver Lee said the SUB ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree about seven miles east of Okemah. The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene from head injuries. He said both were wearing their seatbelts.
