From robots to reading, music to lighting, Henryetta students are going to have some extra help learning this year.
The Henryetta Education Foundation awarded 15 grants to teachers amounting to $16,755 Tuesday afternoon.Monies will be used by the teachers to add educational benefits in their classrooms. Those funds come from donations and fundraising efforts carried on by HEF throughout the year.
The teachers submit proposals early in the school year and those proposals are sent to educators outside the Henryetta and Okmulgee County area for evaluation.
“While we usually go with the top graded proposals, this year we decided to give the awards to everyone submitting proposals,” said HEF chairman James McCullough.
He said the grant program is one of the projects carried on by the organization. The Foundation also handles distribution of scholarship awards to deserving seniors each year.
Receiving awards this year were Milly Gillispie, Pamela Palmer, Laura Goodner and Justin Been, Rachael Bourn, Kelly James, Felicia Dozier and the second grade team, Andrea Spurlock, Katrina Parker and Angela Glover, Harlana Frye, Jennifer Huckabay and Tamara Cashman, Connie Adams Brooks, Lacresa Stout and Lori Mulliniks, Dawn DeBock, Stephen Morgan and Mataya Hares.
