Blanche Rosie Harjo a longtime resident of rural Henryetta, died June 18, 2015 in Tulsa at the age of 96. She was born Jan. 25, 1919 in Hanna to Edward Harris and Pauline (Floyd) Harris. She married Alexander "Alex" Harjo Oct. 21, 1940 in Eufaula. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church for over 58 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alex Harjo, a grandson, Stephen Ellig, one brother, Rex Harris, three sisters, Ruth Ryal, Edith Harjo and Edna Lane.
She is survived by four children: Bubba Harjo and wife Paula of Henryetta, Joyce Ellig and husband Jim of Broken Arrow, Diana Luellen and husband Jim of Jenks, Janice Smith & husband Roger of Henryetta; ten grandchildren: Denise Campbell and husband Greg of Broken Arrow, Angie Isham and husband Landon of Jenks, Scott Luellen and wife Rhonda of Mounds, Warren Harjo, Jr. and wife Larinda of Texarkana, Tex., Candy Hovarter and husband Doug of Lewisville, Ark., Brian Harjo and wife Angela of Sand Springs, Jason Harjo and wife Stephanie of Broken Arrow, Sheila Russell and husband Jerry of Morris, Emily Cooper and husband Jason of Arkansas, Cassidy Smith of Tulsa; 22 great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; sister, Gladys Fields of Henryetta and Amarillo; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be: Warren Harjo, Jr., Jason Harjo, Brian Harjo, Scott Luellen, Jerry Russell, Jr. and Greg Campbell.
Viewing will be from 2 until 8 p.m, Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Integrity Funeral Service with family present to greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2015 at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Hovarter and Rev. Scott Wolfe, officiating. Eulogy will be given by Jason Harjo. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
