This next year will see two new services finally coming to Henryetta’s city hall.
At the council meeting Tuesday, plans were set in motion for credit cards and bank cards to be accepted for payments as well as an online bill pay portal on the Internet.
“The day has come,” said Jennifer Munholland when the council voted to purchase three credit card readers at a cost of $1,428. The readers will be set at the water and court payment windows as well as the drive-through window.credit card
With the online component, utility customers will be given an account balance and that will be handled throug the software. The computer window will show the current status of the bill including late fees and cutoffs, action needed to avoid a penalty and transaction histories.
A $1.25 transaction fee is going to be charged to the city for each online utility payment. On court payments there is a fee charged to the defendant for each transaction. It includes $1 for payments under $100, $2.50 for payment over $100 and $3.50 for advanced online transactions.
Following the meeting, interim city manager Donna White said both services will be in place once all the equipment, software and training is completed. That is expected to take at least three months.
Council members approved a contract with Shipman Consulting owned by Doy Shipman, Morris, to handle computer maintenance services.
A link will be placed on the city’s website going to the payment portals.
In other business, the council approved abutments of houses at 309 Lewis, 417 East Gum and 907 West Moore. The structure on West Moore was the subject of a September meeting where owner Rachel Schierman was given a 60-day extension to do repairs. Code enforcement officer Jody Agee said nothing had been done and the only improvements he found was a vehicle had been towed off the property.
