Henryetta’s Dirtbags baseball team came close twice to posting wins this past week but fell short to lose 12-10 to Roland then 13-7 to Eufaula.
In the Roland game Wednesday Henryetta saw a fourth inning attack by the Rangers result in a 12-1 lead. The Dirtbags would score nine runs in the following three innings while holding Roland scoreless but fell short by two.
In that blazing sixth inning attempt, Gage Osmond, David Reid, Austin and Ethan Palmer and Dalton Pemberton all drove in runs.
The Rangers were able to get two home runs including one that was good for four runs.
Friday night, the Henryetta Dirtbags were in the game all the way until the seventh inning.
After the Ironheads started off with a two-run homer in the first, Henryetta came back using a single by Taylor Hamric to score Ethan Palmer. Reid got a single for another run by Wyatt Coy then, with bases loaded, Osmond was hit by a pitch bringing Hamric across home plate. The final score in that frame came on another hit by pitch scoring Reid.
Henryetta picked up three more runs in the second that would prove to be their final score.
Austin Palmer singled driving Coy and Dalton Pemberton in. A Eufaula error allowed Reid to put run number 7 on the board.
The Ironheads came back with a pair of RBI hits in the fifth along with a sacrifice fly for a run and used a Henryetta error to tie it up.
Eufaula added three runs in the seventh with walks and bases loaded. Run number 11 came on a fly out to center then a double putting the final two runs on the board.
He Dirtbags were only able to get Austin Palmer and Osmond on base in the bottom of the seventh but unable to add the hits to bring them home.
