The Henryetta baseball Dirtbags had one win and two losses from Friday to Tuesday as their season starts in the final games.That win came in a district game with Wetumka where Henryetta dominated from the second inning on to win 12-3.
The HHS nine opened up their lead in the second with four runs courtesy of a double by Phillip Rice and single by Ethan Palmer.
Wetumka tried to come back with a pair of runs in the second and a run in the fourth.
Gage Osmond singled a line drive to right in the fourth scoring Taylor Hamric. Hamric would get a sixth inning single bringing Connor Bullard home. Hamric would score on an Osmond sacrifice fly followed by Skylar Greenhaw singling scoring David Reid.
Henryetta put it away in the seventh with Ethan Palmer scoring on a wild pitch, Dalton Pemberton walking home when Osmond was hit by a pitch then Hamric scored on a wild pitch.
Despite a 5-run deficit in the sixth inning, the HHS Dirtbags baseball team almost came all the way back, eventually falling 9-7 to Keys last Friday. Henryetta Dirtbags Varsity scored three runs in the failed comeback on an error and an error.
Keys posted four runs in the second inning on back to back bunts followed with a wild pitch and sacrifice hit.
The game was tied in the second inning when Austin Palmer scored on a walk then a ground ball hit by Phillip Rice brought Gage Osmond, Skylar Greenhaw and Ethan Palmer across the home plate.
Keys posted one run each in the third, fifth and sixth inning and two in the fourth.
Henryetta came close to tying up the game in the seventh when a Keys error scored Connor Bullard then another error allowed Taylor Hamric and Austin Palmer to score with two outs on the Dirtbags. Henryetta would not add any more runs Greenhaw grounded into a fielder’s choice and Osmond was thrown out trying to get to second base.
Tuesday night Henryetta started off with a one-run led when Ethan Palmer scored on a Bullard grounder to second.
The last Henryetta run would come in the third with Austin Palmer scored on a Heavener error. From then on it was Heaven’s turn to score tying up the game in the second, adding a run in the third, two more in the fifth and one in the sixth for the win.
