A tradition for Henryetta high school senior girls continued Tuesday afternoon.
The annual HHS senior girls tea was held at the First United Methodist church sponsored by the Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
First started by the 21st Century Club, a women’s organization that was involved in school and civic activities throughout Henryetta. At one time, the tea was held in the member’s homes with the senior girls arriving in formal attire down to high heels and gloves.
Later the Beta Sigma Phi sorority stepped in to keep it going and moved the event to the Methodist church.
Each year guest speakers included women who graduated from Henryetta high school and have been successful in their own professions.
This year Amanda Wion, a 2014 Henryetta high school graduate, was the guest speaker. She is now president of the Sands Springs chamber of commerce.
Each of the girls present were given gift wrapped teacup and saucers as a souvenir of the event.
