A new Miss Labor Day will be crowned next month and contestants are being invited to participate.
Shannon Frair, pageant chair, said the pageant will be held Aug. 20 at the Henryetta high school auditorium.
The annual baby pageant will start at 10 a.m. and the judging for the older girls will be at 7 p.m.
She said this year the Miss Labor Day winner will receive the traditional crown and sash and also, something new, a $500 scholarship check.
“We are wanting to make the pageant appeal to more of our older contestants so we set aside the money for the scholarship,” she said.
The baby pageant is open to boys and girls in five age groups starting from 0 to 5 months and up to 36 to 47 months of age.
There is a $15 entry fee that must accompany each application form by Aug. 19.
The evening pageant is open to girls competing in the Petite Miss, Little Miss, Junior Miss and queen. Entry fee for that competition is $25 and all entries must be submitted by Aug. 19.
All contestants in the evening pageant must live within a 25-mile radius of Henryetta. “This opens the door for more girls to participate. They don’t have to live just in Henryetta,” Frair said.
