Henryetta’s July sales tax check reversed a two-month decline when it was more than the total received a year ago.
This month the town picked up a check for $292,644.60, a $33,020.81 increase over the same period last year.
According to the state Tax Commission, this check was primarily the business in May.
Starting out the new fiscal year was a welcome note for the city. A year ago, the town received $259,623, a nearly $20,000 drop from the previous year.
Also on the positive side was the gain in the use tax return to Henryetta. This month the town received $31,015.21, up $3,143 from a year ago.
Most of the Okmulgee County communities receiving the sales tax disbursement showed increases for their May business.
The largest was Okmulgee, receiving $673,727, a $40,904 gain from the previous year.
Dewar was on the other side of the scale picking up $14,478, a nearly $1,000 drop from last year.
Okemah and Weleetka both recorded drops in sales tax revenue for the month.
The Okmulgee County government’s share of the sales tax this month amounted to $468,861 which was up $13,547 from a year ago.
Statewide, $194,656,884 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $14,386,010 from the $180,270,874 distributed to the cities and towns in July last year.
