The August sales tax check for Henryetta has got to be making city officials smiling.
This month the town received $346,192.18, a big jump over the $274,023.67 from a year ago. It was $72,168.51 ahead of last August and $53,547 above the check for last month. The increase also set a new record in sales tax collections in Henryetta. It outpaced the previous record of $325,083.09 set in May, 2021.
That single month gain was the largest in the area with three communities, Checotah, Okemah and Weleetka, reporting declines in sales tax monies.
The use tax return for Henryetta showed a slight gain, $33,888.14, up $62 from a year ago.
Statewide, $197,779,010 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $14,358,210 from the $183,420,800 distributed to the cities and towns in August last year.
