The 29th edition of the Jim Shoulders Living Legends Rodeo ill go down as the largest yet.
During the two nights, well over 3,000 people lined the arena at Nichols Park to see some of the top cowboys and cowgirls compete.
When the dust settled, Black Deckard, Eufaula, and Mollie Basset, Vinita, were named the top cowboy and cowgirl.
"Since we became a PRCA-sanctioned rodeo, more and more well-known competitors have been coming to Henryetta," said rodeo chair Tammie Hiatt. "This means our local fans are seeing some of the quality that they would only get at the rodeos in Las Vegas and Calgary."
Providing entertainment during lulls in the action was famed funny man Brinton James. He got in the grandstands and interacted with the audience to howls of laughter.
"Each year we try to make the rodeo better," Hiatt said. "Next year will be our 30th anniversary and we are already planning to add more."
