After a disappointing sales tax check in October, Henryetta city officials smiled a little better when they got the one for November.
The check from the Oklahoma Tax Commission this month was $301,357.13. That was a $24,164.61 increase from a year ago and was the eighth month in the past 11 that Henryetta saw an increase. There were declines in March, May and June.
The city operates on a fiscal year basis starting July 1 and this was the fifth consecutive month this fiscal year that the town has shown an increase in sales tax revenue.
Accompanying that check was revenue from the use tax charged by the state for online purchases. Henryetta received $62,162.66 which was also an increase, $29,589.08, from a year ago.
Henryetta was one of four communities in the area that showed an increase in revenue from the state. Also on the plus side were Eufaula, Morris and Weleetka.
The city of Okmulgee took the biggest hit, down $462,066 from the November 2021 return.
Okmulgee County's portion of the sales tax also was less than a year ago. This month the county treasury banked $677,338.29. That was a decrease of $505,653 from last year.
Statewide, the disbursement of $193,017,494 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $12,961,918 from the $180,055,576 distributed to the cities and towns in November last year.
