Bruce Jones was named interim executive director at the Henryetta Chamber of Commerce.
That announcement was made at the December board meeting Monday.
Jones, who has operated Thehenryettan.com online newspaper for the past 12 years, will serve until a full-time replacement can be found.
The recent Hallmark Henryetta Christmas parade and event was said to have been a success with around 2,000 people attending the parade and activities in the park Dec. 3.
Event organizers Valerie Mosco and Kelly Dobson said plans are already underway for next year as well as other activities to be held this coming spring and summer. "We felt this was a healing moment for the community," Mosco said.
Sandy Warschaw told the board members the second annual Henryetta Mule and Donkey Days event will be held Oct. 28 and 29. She said the inaugural event this past October was good but anticipated more entries next year.
Board members were reminded the annual chamber banquet will be held Feb. 20. At that time, Jeremy Roberts will be sworn in as the new chamber president. It will be held at the civic center. Banquet committee members will be meeting in the coming weeks to set the program.
Roberts pointed out the involvement of a number of businesses lighting up their stores for Christmas made the downtown area look more festive.
