Tom R. Condict was born April 9, 1952 in Okemah to Willis Ray Condict and Lena Mae (Harrison) Condict. He died Aug. 13, 2015 at his son’s home in Wagner at the age of 63.
Condict was a longtime resident of the Okemah area and was a 1970 graduate of Butner High School. He later received an associate’s degree from Seminole Junior College and went on to receive his Bachelor’s from East Central University in Ada, a Master’s from South Eastern University and his Superintendent Certificate from University of Central Oklahoma.
He and Pamela Kay Sanders were married August 27, 1971 in Welty. He began coaching high school football at Ringling High School. He then went on to coach at Deer Creek Lamont, Okemah, Broken Bow (won a state title), Okmulgee, Jones and Dewar High School. He began his administrative work at Dewar before returning to Okemah and eventually retiring after working with McAlester Schools.
Condict was inducted into the Oklahoma Coaches Hall of Fame and also the Seminole Junior College Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Condict of Okemah; two sons, Dale Condict and wife Sherry of Wagner, Oklahoma and Michael Scott Condict and wife Susie of Edmond; two brothers, Dennis Condict and wife Kim of Okemah and Tim Condict of Dustin; two sisters, Laura Dean and husband Ralph of Choctaw and Christy Jones and Charles of Cromwell, and six grandchildren, Austin, Condict, Abby Marlo Condict, Collin Condict, Trent Condict, Kendra Condict and Cale Condict.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Keith Russell, Larry Sanders, John Harelson, Dwight Grady, Tom Howell and Steve Hudson.
Honorary bearers include: Jerry Dean, Greg Baldwin, Johnny Bohannon, Billy Green, Mark Willis, Terrell Turman and Denton Fox.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 17, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Tom Condict Panther Dome in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah.
Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Rev. Wade Harelson.
