The first week in February is an important one for voters and candidates in Henryetta and Okmulgee County.
Election board secretary Ava Ridgeway said the filing period for city council positions in Henryetta, Dewar, Beggs and Morris starts Feb. 2. Candidates can file with the election board from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2 through Friday, Feb. 6.
"Municipal filing packets are available in the election board office at the court house," she said.  The non-partisan municipal election will be held  Tuesday, April 7.
Friday, Feb. 6 is the final day residents can register to vote in the March 3 special school elections.
Schools holding elections include Henryetta, Okmulgee, Haskell and Liberty. Henryetta voters will be casting ballots for a $9 million bond issue in that election.
School board seats will be decided Feb. 10 when polls open. Early in-person voting for those school board candidates will be allowed Feb. 5 and 6 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the election board.
Candidates for the Henryetta school board post include Jeanie Duncan, Shane Berry and Linda Dudley.
