The extreme cold weather this past week has taken a toll on water lines around Henryetta. Workers were busy Tuesday trying to repair a cracked pipe on East Main and, after cutting through the concrete driveway, had to contend with a geyser shooting water over 30 feet into the air. "We were not able to relieve the pressure because a fire hydrant had a broken bolt," said water department supervisor Jeff Tedlock. Eventually the water line was isolated and a clamp put around the pipe. More broken liens are expected as the ground continues to shift from the freezing weather. One break on Corporation last weekend disrupted water service to a number of families for several hours. Workers spent nearly 25 hours repairing that line. |
