James Owen Taylor, a resident of Henryetta, died March 3, 2018 in Oklahoma City at the age of 85. He was born June 17, 1932 in Haskell to James and Emma Love (Maddox) Taylor.
After graduating Haskell High School Owen enlisted in the US Army and served during the Korean War and retired with the rank of Major. He then enrolled in the University Of Oklahoma School Of Pharmacy and after graduating graduating became the director of Pharmacy at the Ellison Infirmary that is now the Goddard Health Center. In 1970 he and his wife Janice opened Taylor Pharmacy in Henryetta and served the Henryetta community until retiring in 2006. He a former member of the Henryetta School Board, the Henryetta Chamber of Commerce and served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher at the Henryetta First Baptist Church for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Brothers; Earl and W.C. Taylor and sisters; Betty Jane and Shirley
He is survived by his wife Janice Taylor of the home; son: Kent Taylor of Edmond; aughter: Debbie MacKenzie of New York; grandchildren: Ashley Dynan, Kendall Davis, Graham James, Bryan Taylor, Layne Taylor, Lauren Taylor and Ross Taylor; great grandchild: Jemma Taylor; sister; Doris Robertson of Norman; and many nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2018 at the First Baptist Church with Chuck Schilling, officiating. Interment will be at the Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.
