Henrytta’s Lady Knights split their two-game scrimmage Monday at Shawnee with a 5-4 win over Wyandotte then lost 13-4 to Piedmont.
In the opener with Wyandotte, the Lady Knights used a two-out, fourth inning rally to get the win.
Wyandotte’s Lady Bears jumped off to a two-run lead in the first inning.
Henryetta remained scoreless until the top of the third when Jaylynn Joslin singled then scored from third on a centerfield line drive by Avery Miller. A fly out and ground out left Miller stranded on first as the winning came to a close.
The Lady Bears added two more runs in the bottom of the third on RBI hits to center and right field.
Brooklyn Baughman nailed a left field line drive to get a double then Skylar Morris was thrown out at second and Lexi Lollis hit a shot to the short stop putting tow outs on the board against the Lady Knights. That’s when McKayla Greenlaw got a single to left scoring Baughman. Kinleigh Miller singled then went to third on a pop fly from Joslin. She would score on a line drive by Katelyn Dwiggins.
The final HHS run came with Joslin and Makayla Greenlaw scoring on a grounder by Avery Miller and error by the Lady Bears.
In the Piedmont game, Henryetta was down by two runs in the first inning when Dwiggins and Joslin got on base. a line drive by Shelby Kilhoffer sent both of them back home to tie up the contest.
With two outs in the second inning, Piedmont scored three runs on a centerfield RBI.
The Lady Knights added two runs in the bottom of the second from Baughman and Greenlaw to get within one.
Those would be the final runs of the evening for the Lady Knights but Piedmont would add five runs in the third and three more in the fourth for the win.
The first regular season game for the Lady Knights will be held Monday when they host Okmulgee.
