For the third year Nichols Park will be hosting the AHRMA vintage motorcycle championship races.
motorcycleSet Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the event is going to have over 300 riders on motorcycles, some dating back to the 1920s.
According to Trampas Parker, owner of T&S Racing, some of the top riders from around the United States and possibly even overseas participating. “There is a problem because of the pandemic getting riders from other countries to attend this year,” he said.
Racing will start with vintage cross country races Friday afternoon going through off-road trails that wind around Nichols Park.
Saturday will see Moto-cross racing on a curving, hilly track on the north side of the park starting at 8:30 that morning. To add a new feature this year, Parker has scheduled an oval dirt track racing series Saturday afternoon.
Parker said this year’s races are for the overall championships. In the previous years, cyclists were competing for points toward their final totals.
“We have been praised for the location for the races in the past and that was a big part of the decision to have the year-end championships in Henryetta,” Parker said.
A dinner Sunday night at The Briefcase will see the awards given out to the top races.
The public can attend the races with ten and under admitted free. Adult admission is $10 per day.
“We want the people of Henryetta and the area to come out and watch the races,” Parker said. “There are some great riders and some fantastic bikes on hand.”
Parker is the first American to win two world championships and inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2009.
