water lines

Water line breaks continue to plague city workers as they deal with the aftermath of the sub-zero temperatures this month.
A number of main water lines ranging from four to six-inch in diameter have been repaired. Those lines spew out some 200 to 300 gallons of water each minutes.
At the same time, the city has shut off over 150 residential and commercial water meters due to broken pipes. That added up to around 5,000 gallons per minute of water spilling out into the ground.
Between shutting off the water meters and cutting off water to the town for this past weekend, the city was able to refill the storage tanks and start service back to the rural water districts.
The voluntary boil order is still in effect through March 5 in order for testing is completed to make sure water is safe for consumkption. "With the lines shut down and those line breaks, bacteria could have gotten in the lines. We understand that a boil order is a nuisance but it is for everyone's safety," .Mayor Jennifer Munholland said.
As long as the city water lines and towers are able to maintain the levels of water, plans call for car washes to repoen Feb. 25.
From now until the all clear is given for the water supply, the Henryetta fire department will maintain potable water to use for drinking or cooking and non potable water to be given to residents.
"We owe the success and thanks to the interim city manager, Donna White, public works director, Ron Casey, water superintendent, Jason Gold, Fire chief, David Bullard, police chief, Steve Norman and allthe city crews, as well as most citizens that pulled together," she added.
