Okmulgee County businesses that sell or serve alcohol will be able to have their employees trained by two free Zoom meetings April 5 and 8.
Conducted by the OSU Community Wellness Programs, the Responsible Beverage Service and Sales training will start at 10 a.m. April 5 and 2 p.m. April 8.
The training is designed to help prevent sales of alcoholic beverages to minors as well as inform personnel about state laws regarding alcohol sales. Topics to be covered include reading IDs correctly, fake IDs, alcohol selling policies, legal liability, and civil responsibility. The training will also provide important tips on how and why it is important to implement safe practices when selling alcohol.
OSU Community Wellness Programs staff can also assist owners and managers with developing and strengthening alcohol selling policies. Having a strong policy in place helps ensure all employees at an establishment are selling alcohol responsibly and legally. It sets expectations for who should be asked for an ID, when service should be refused, and the consequences for not following responsible alcohol selling practices.
The training is free but anyone wishing to participate has to register by calling Margaret Black at (918) 685-1566 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
