When the Western Oklahoma State College rodeo season starts next year, Henryetta's Saylor Smethers will be one of the contestants. The daughter of Jerrod and Stacey Blanchet, she signed her letter of intent to join the Pioneer rodeo team earlier this week. In addition to barrel racing, she competes in the breakaway roping also. In the past she has done goat tying and pole bending along with breakaway and ribbon roping and barrels. She has won barrel championships at the northeast Junior rodeo association, Oklahoma youth rodeo association and central Oklahoma little britches rodeo association. She qualified for the Junior NFR in Vegas twice. She has numerous barrel race wins. Smethers is currently competing at the Oklahoma High School Rodeo Association.  The college is in Altus.
