Two former Henryetta Hen tennis stars will be seen more frequently at the Knight matches this year.
Wednesday morning the Henryetta school board unanimously approved adding John Truesdell and Mark Milligan as lay coaches. Their jobs will be to be with HHS tennis athletes at their matches.
“Too often we have the matches being played at courts separated by distance," said superintendent Dwayne Noble. “Our tennis coach, Dustin Mosco, can’t be at both sites at the same time so this gives a way for an adult from the school to be present.”
Milligan has been a tennis coach all his life and was most recently inducted into the Oklahoma Tennis Coach’s Hall of Fame. He graduated from Henryetta High School in 1967.
Truesdell is a 1973 HHS grad and has been involved in coaching throughout his teaching career. He was named all state tennis coach in 2009 and 4A boys state tennis coach of the year. He spent 19 years as a head football coach, ten coaching track as well as basketball for four years and 11 years as head tennis coach. In 2016 and 2017, he was the assistant coach at Cascia Hall with the girls' team won the state championship. He is retired and living in Mounds.
