A vacant house on South Ninth between Meacham and Ragan is nothing but ashes now following a Friday morning fire. According to fire chief David Bullard, the house has been unoccupied for a number of years and did not have any utilities going to it. He went on to say the wood frame structure was completely involved by the time firemen arrived on the scene. Because the building was vacant and in bad condition, firemen decided to spend their time confining the blaze and keep it from spreading to another house and some storage buildings.
