arrowhead golf win

There are times a team really puts a smile on the coach’s face and that happened Tuesday
Henryetta’s girls high school team swept through their match at Arrowhead winning the Heartland Conference tournament in high style. The girls, Skylar Smallwood, Emily Stockholm, Skylar Morris, Mabrey Been and Lottie Johnson, posted a 384 score for the 18 holes. That put them out of reach for the tournament with Eufaula placing second with 433 and Beggs trailing with 493.
Making that win possible for the HHS girls were the six birdies. “That is the first time I had a team score that many birds in a round,” said coach Dutch Vandenborn. Stockholm was under par three times while Been, Smallwood and Morris each had one. For Been that was her first bird ever. “How great is that,” Vandenborn said after the plaque presentation.
Individually, Smallwood was first in the tournament with an 89. Stockholm, using her three birdies, came in second. Morris shot a 102 for fourth place, Been one stroke behind with a 103 for fifth and Johnson in ninth with a 117.
“These girls did a fantastic job Tuesday,” the coach said. “They wanted the win, concentrated on their shots and made it happen.”
