The Henryetta chamber of commerce members will be holding their annual banquet in a different setting this year.
Because of the COVID pandemic, chamber board members have elected to hold the outdoor dinner at the Henryetta golf course and limit the number of available seats. In the past, the dinner was held at the civic center.
There will be 80 tickets available at $25 each. As in years past, a silent auction will be held.
That decision was announced Monday athlete April chamber meeting.
During the meeting, board members approved a motion to support Steve Sanford in his efforts at Nichols Park.
Sanford said he is working with the Henryetta Tennis Association to organize a fundraising effort to restore the caretaker’s house. His ultimate goal is to have it listed on the National Register of Historic Places as well as have a person living there.
Sanford said he has some renderings of how the house would look after rehabilitation and has a number of contractors and building professionals who have offered to help through labor donations.
Sanford also said he has scheduled a cleanup day at the park April 21. That work is part of the national Earth Day observance.
The chamber will be accepting resumes and applications for the executive director’s spot until May 1. A committee will then go over those applications and schedule interviews.
In June, the chamber will be holding the summer Cruise Knight June 12 and spring rodeo June 4 and 5. The rodeo this year will see the name changed to “Roy Madden Spring Rodeo” in memory of the late chamber executive director.
