Henryetta’s Lady Knights took the 4A District 3 title in grand style Thursday with back to back to back wins on their home field.
The HHS girls shut out Morris 1-0 then faced off against Eufaula to rack up a 7-2 win and 12-1 victory that sends them into the regional playoffs.
During the day-long series, the Lady Knights had a half dozen home runs with Kinley Miller getting a two run homer in the game with Morris and another in the final Eufaula contest. Kasedi Gobin, Brooklyn Baughman, Avery Miller and Jaylyn Joslin all had home runs during the day.
In the opener, Henryetta picked up 13 hits with runs going on the board in the third, sixth and seventh innings. The Lady Eagles were only allowed five hits but could not get in position to score.
Against Eufaula, Joslin got the Henryetta scoring started with a sacrifice fly to center that scored Kaitlyn Dwiggins. Kasedi Gobin followed that up with a home run hit deep to center that scored Shelby Kilhoffer and Avery Miller. Another HHS run was scored by Makayla Greenhaw in the fourth on a sacrifice fly then an RBI double by Kinley Miller in the fifth scored sister Avery.
Eufaula had Henryetta fans worried in the sixth with back to back home runs, the only big hits of the day for the Lady Ironheads.
The final Henryetta run came in the sixth when Avery Miller singled bringing Greenhaw across home plate.
In the nightcap, Joslin singled on a line drive to center bringing in Kaitlyn Dwiggins in the first inning. That was followed in the second with Baughman’s three run homer. A sacrifice fly by Gobin scored Kilhoffer in the third then Kinley Miller got her three-run homer
The fourth saw Avery Miller with her three run homer followed by Joslin’s solo hit going yard.
The lone Eufaula run came in the fourth on a fly ball to center.
During the day, Henryetta had 37 hits while Eufaula and Morris could only get 22.
