One of the men involved in a 2019 shooting death in Henryetta has pled guilty in federal court this week.
glen westGlen Thomas West, 35, entered a guilty plea on charges of second degree murder in Indian Country.
He had been charged in Okmulgee district court with first degree murder but, since he and the victim, Edwin Dominic Reid, were both Native Americans, the state charges were dismissed.
He was accused of shooting Reid at a home in the 700 block of West Division July 10, 2019.
That guilty plea is punishable by death or life imprisonment as well as a $250,000 fine.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Steven P. Shreder accepted the plea and has ordered a pre-sentence investigation.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, no date was set for that pre-sentencing investigation to be completed.
A second person, Robert Cody Atkins, had been arrested in connection with the case but it was also turned over to federal authorities. He has been indicted in federal court on that case.
