Friday, August 20, is the last day to apply for voter registration to be eligible to vote in the September 14, 2021, Special Election for Okmulgee County, Election Board Secretary Ashley Carnes said today.
Carnes said that United States citizens, residents of Oklahoma, and at least 18 years old could apply to become registered voters.
“Those who are not registered or need to change their voter information may fill out and mail an Oklahoma Voter Registration Application form. The application must be postmarked no later than midnight Friday, August 20. Voters can also apply or make changes on the Oklahoma State Election Board website, www.elections.ok.gov,” she added.
Applications postmarked after August 20, 2021, will be accepted and processed after the September 14, 2021 election.
The County Election Board responds in writing to every person who submits a voter registration form or changes to their voter information. The response is either a voter identification card listing the new voter's precinct number and polling place location or a letter that explains the reason or reasons the application for voter registration was not approved. Carnes said anyone who has submitted a voter registration application and has not received a response within 30 days should contact the County Election Board office.
Oklahoma Voter Registration Application forms are available at the County Election Board office located at 314 W. 7th Street, Room 102 in the Okmulgee County Courthouse, and at most post offices, tag agencies, and public libraries in the county. Applications also are available at www.elections.ok.gov.
Voters in the Dewar, Grayson, Henryetta, Morris, Schulter, and Wilson area will be voting in the Special Primary Election for the County Commissioner District 3 office.
Voters in the city limits of Beggs will be voting in the Special Municipal Election for Councilmember Ward 4.
Voters in the Beggs Public Schools District will be voting on two school bond propositions. Graham-Dustin and Checotah Public Schools will also have school bond propositions on the September 14, 2021, ballot for Okmulgee County.
