Harold Gene Wood of Miller, Missouri died Oct. 25, 2021 in Mount Vernon, Missouri at the age of 82. He was born April 5, 1939 at Gypsy, OK to Randolph and Elizabeth (Hickman) Wood. Lived in Miller, from 1979 until his death. Before moving to Miller he lived in Weleetka where he raised his six children.
Harold was in the US Air Force at Edward's Air Force Base CA. He worked as the Admin Clerk for the General. He finished his duty on July 20, 1961. Harold, wife Peggy and 2 daughters moved back to OK. Harold started working for the Frisco railroad at that time now known as Burlington northern in 1964. He continued to work for the railroad and was the last one to operate the last Steam Powered Crane. He then was elected to the Maintenance Way of Employees Workers Union of the Railroad as the Vice General Secretary/Treasurer in 1979. He with one other was the longest team pair of the Union for 20 years. He retired from Railroad and Union with 57 years od service. The Oklahoma Union was created and was named after Harold "Wood Lodge".
He married Peggy Yvonne (Minyard) in 1956. They had three girls: Debra Lynn, Donna Marie, Denise Ann. Peggy deceased in 1963.
He then married Earlene Hooper they had two boys and one girl: Darrell Gene, Darla Sue and Dirk Dion.
In 1979 he moved to Miller Mo and remarried in Dec 2001 to Sally Houchin until his death. He had 3 step children Marty, Jeremy and Cassandra.
He is survived by his daughters: Debra and husband Steve Killmer of Weleetka, Donna Madden and husband of Holdenville, Denise and husband Tom Stone of McAlester, Darla Stephens of McAlester; sons: Darrell Wood of Okemah, and Dirk and wife Emily of Okemah; step children: Marty and wife Tracy Houchin of Missouri, Jeremy and wife Betsy Houchin of Ark,Cassandra Zimmerman of Ark; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; eight step grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his, Father, Randolph Wood, mother, Elizabeth (Hickman) Wood, brother Jack Wood, sisters Pat Reid, Sister, Shirley Mosco, and Linda Wood and Grandson, Billy Bachus
Graveside services are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 29, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Highland Park Cemetery in Okemah. Services are under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
