Nine fourth quarter free throws made the difference for the Lady Knights Tuesday as they took a 44-39 win from the Beggs Demons.
Makayla Greenhaw and Kasedi Gobin paced the HHS girls with 15 and 14 points respectively in a game that saw Henryetta take a first half lead then battle back from a 31-31 tie going into the final quarter.
The free throw line is were most of the points were scored during the evening. Gobin hit seven of eight attempts while Greenhaw had a perfect four of four tally. Brooklyn Baughman put nine points on the board followed by Kassidy Lee with four, Katelyn Dwiggins three and Aliyah Harjochee with two.
Beggs stayed in the game thanks to their freshman Skylar Phillips. She posted 22 total points, hitting all ten of the times she went to the free throw line. The Beggs senior, Ashiyah Lewis was the only other Lady Demon scoring in double digits with 12 points, eight of them in that final quarter.
This was the third time the two teams kept fans on edge. Beggs won a 38-35 contest with the Lady Knights in the Henryetta tournament. Henryetta turned around and captured a 55-50 district win last month.
