Even though tax season is still months away, it is on the mind for the AARP Tax Program and Shirley McCowan is looking for volunteers to help.
The program prepares taxes for free for area residents and is located at The Briefcase in Henryetta.
McCowan said anyone who is interested can submit their names online at aarpfoundation.org/taxaidevolunteer and click on Volunteer Now.
“You do not have to be a member of AARP to volunteer,” MCCowan said.
Training is both through the IRS Website then unperson training in January.
“The Henryetta First Family Federal Credit Union with AARP opens its tax site the first Wednesday of February and is open only on Wednesdays starting Feb. 7 and every Wednesday until April 10, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.”
She said workers accept client return information for all individuals but no business returns are handled.
