The second increase for Henryetta in sales tax revenue this fiscal year has been recoded this month.
The city received $298,081.38 from the state in the monthly sales tax revenue distribution. That was a $5,597.77 increase over a year ago. The city operates on a July 1 to June 30 fiscal year basis which means there are sitll 10 months remaining for the city to count the sales tax money in the current budget.
That money is based on August business by local retailers. "This points out the need for more people to shop at home where their money stays to finance our local government," said Genny Mooney, executive director of the Henryetta Chamber of Commerce.
While the city had an increase in sales tax money, the use tax revenue check to the town was less than a year ago. This month, Henryetta received $32,684, a drop of $8,058 from last year.
Around the area only two other communities  showed declines in sales tax receipts. Dewar received $16,734 which was $18 less than last year. Weleeta picked up a check for 414,947, a drop form the $17,495 last October.
Okmulgee received $713,966, a $43,423 bump from a year ago to make it the largest increase in area communities this month.
The state check to the Okmulgee County treasury amounted to $522,088, a $4,097 increase from last year.
Statewide, $207,360,122 in sales tax collections went back to cities and towns reflecting an increase of $7,895,811 from the $199,464,333 distributed to them in October last year.
