This past weekend, Nichols Park saw nearly 1,000 cross country runners looking for a spot in the state meet. The annual regional competition drew schools from all over eastern Oklahoma with the girls hitting the two-mile course and the boys running a grueling 5 kilometer route.boys
In the 3A class, Henryetta’s girls had to settle for 11th place with Bethel, Keys and Sequoyah-Tahlequah taking the top three spots. In the boys meet, Heavener, Sequoyah-Tahlequah and Keys were the top three winners in that order.
Placings for the HHS girls included: Peyton Wind, 46, Bayleigh Wolfe 53, Willow Neal 63, Kaylee Mitchell 70, Kelsie Sadler 73 and Laura Mcconnell 74.
girlsThe boys placing had Noah Huckabay finish 48 and Zadan Montgomery 52.
In the 2A class, Wilson’s girls finished 15th in the team scoring and the boys finished 16th.
That class saw runners from Dewar, Schulter and Wilson competing.
Dewar girl placings included: Malaziah Carter, 55, Adena Fowler 69; Kirby Anderson 80,.
Schulter placings were: Payton Campbell 76, Cadence Campbell 77, Kylie Brandt 125 and Kaylee Johnson 134.
Wilson’s girls placed: Reese Herring 114, Rachael Dunn 128, Allie Thompson 129, Kaylah Mccracken 133 and Riley McCall 139.
The 2A boys from Wilson individual placings included: Esiah King 53, Andrew Wilson 55, Alec Ganote 112, Nicholas Vang 113, Weston Key 127, Aiden Barnard 130 and Zechariah Tecumseh 139.
