When HHS centerfielder David Reid stole home from third, he put the winning run on the board for Henryetta Friday. Henryetta won that contest with an 8-0, five inning shutout.
The home baseball season opener with Okmulgee saw the HHS Dirtbags unable to score after loading the bases in the second inning. Back to back doubles by Will Perez and Hunter Bowdler, single by Maverick Randleman and walk by Taylor Hamric wound set the stage for Boston Morris to get a double living Henryetta the eventual 4-0 lead in the third.
That was followed by Perez, Bowdler and Randleman scoring on RBIs in the fourth.
Reid singled in the fifth then went to second on a Perez walk and had back to back steals for the winning run.
Overall, Henryetta had 11 hits while the Bulldogs from Okmulgee could only get two.
Bowdler was the starting pitcher for Henryetta and struck out eight Okmulgee batters.
Henryetta will host the Prague Red Devils Monday in a district match then go to Prague Tuesday. The game between Henryetta and Wilson Friday wraps up the week for the Dirtbags.
