Henryetta jumped off to an early lead but had to fend off a late-game Holdenville attack for an 8-5 win Thursday.
Playing in their first game of the slow pitch season, the Lady Knights opening their first inning appearance with Makayla Greenhaw and Shelby Kilhoffer each getting a single. Serenity Rex singled driving in Greenhaw. Alinee Hicks got the first home run of the season with a hit over center field fence scoring both Rex and Kilhoffer.
hicksRex, Hicks and Kassidy Lee would score on RBI hits in the third then Hicks got the final run in the fifth.
The Lady Wolverines would get a solo home run in the fourth then added four runs in the fifth to close up the scoring distance.
On the rubber for Henryetta, Hicks would let five Holdenville runners get on base in the sixth and seventh innings on four hits. The Lady Wolverines loaded up the bases in the sixth but a double play on a line drive need that threat.
In addition to her pitching duties, Hicks would get three hits, three RBIs and one run in her three times at bat. She struck out three batters, gave up five walks and five hits.
Holdenville would tally nine hits, five runs and four RBIs during the game.
