The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reintegration Program is the recipient of a $739,944 Coordinated Tribal Assistance Solicitation grant through the U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance.
The grant will be used to provide alcohol and substance abuse services and counseling for RiP clients.reintegration site
“We are genuinely thrilled to receive this award and to be recognized again by the Department of Justice for the hard work and effective services that we provide. This is just one more tool we have to help our citizens post-release and to meet our obligation to reduce recidivism,” RiP Manager Tony Fish said. “In fact, drug and alcohol addiction is a pervasive problem among ex-offenders and until now it’s been extremely difficult to find services for our clients. This just makes our program that much more comprehensive.”
The program recently announced plans for a transitional living center and vocational learning center in Henryetta that will offer accommodations for clients and offer skills training such as welding. The facility is estimated to be completed July 2016.
RiP utilizes proven-effective initiatives to assist Muscogee (Creek) citizens in the transition from the prison system back into society, while embracing traditional Native American cultural values.
The program bases its services on the principals that every citizen, even ex-prisoners are an important part of the community and are capable of change.
